About Us
Welcome to Lotus Press Books—a place where stories come to life, voices are honored, and culture is celebrated. Founded by Dr. Phirin Keo Salinas, a seasoned early education professional with over two decades in the field, and a community college instructor for aspiring early education educators alongside her daughter, Yanara Grace, a creative and inspiring young author. Lotus Press is dedicated to crafting vibrant children’s books that reflect the beauty of diverse stories, with a special focus on Khmer culture and heritage.
Our Story
Lotus Press was born out of a vision that combines personal history and professional passion. As a second-generation Cambodian American, Dr. Phirin Keo Salinas grew up without books that reflected her family’s refugee story or her rich cultural background. Now, she’s bridging that gap alongside her daughter, Yanara Grace, who embraces both her Cambodian and Mexican American heritage. Her love for storytelling and sharing her identity is central to the heart of Lotus Press.
To support Yanara’s cultural journey, Dr. Phirin Keo Salinas began curating a library filled with books that reflect diverse identities and experiences for her daughter—and young readers like her—with stories that validate and celebrate their backgrounds. Yanara’s creativity and pride in her heritage inspire the stories they create together that will help children see themselves and others through a culturally enriched lens.
